A message from Pastor Denise about worship services and COVID-19

To the Congregation of St. Luke:

I met with St. Luke’s Worship Committee this morning. We prayerfully considered how we can best be prepared for the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), how we can protect the vulnerable among us and how we can keep from spreading the equally dangerous virus of panic.

Here is what we are doing beginning at tomorrow’s services:

-We will not share the peace. Please be respectful of the space of others. Please refrain from handshaking and/or hugging one another.

-In addition, out of an abundance of concern for one another, we will not celebrate Holy Communion for the time being. If you would like to receive communion, please make a note of that on the back of your communion card and Taylor will schedule a time for me to meet with you privately.

-We will have the offering plates placed in narthex as you leave, rather than passing them throughout the congregation.

-Please remember to wash your hands and if you are sick, stay home from worship. Every week, the 10:30 a.m. worship service is available for streaming on our Facebook page.

-Following the worship services, I will not be greeting parishioners as they exit the sanctuary.

More than anything else, remember that in the midst of the storm, in the midst of a national state of emergency, God is our refuge and our strength. Whether or not I see you on Sunday morning, know that I am praying for you. May God watch over us all and grant us wisdom to make good decisions for ourselves and for the most vulnerable among us.

God’s peace,

Pastor Denise Seymour
