Cancellation of Worship & Activities Through 3/31

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we continue to monitor the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, we want to do all that we can to protect the health of our members. With that in mind, Council has decided to suspend Wednesday worship services until further notice. To help with the social distancing recommendation from the Governor and DHEC, Council has also decided to have online services available and cancel “in church” worship services for March 22nd and March 29th. This includes the cancellation of Sunday School as well as Confirmation and LCY activities. This action is taken in the wake of Governor McMaster’s press conference held on March 15, 2020, announcing the closure of all public schools through March 31, 2020, and advising against the assembly of groups greater than 100 people.

Although worship services have been cancelled, a Sunday service will be pre-recorded and available for streaming over the Internet. As of right now, it is our intent to have the service available in both video and audio streaming formats. We will provide further information on how to access this content in the days to come. If you are unable to access the internet version and need a digital copy, please let us know and we will make every effort to get one to you.

In determining how to proceed, Council will continue to monitor and discuss what action is necessary. Council’s determination will likely be based on the recommendations and decisions of state and local government officials. We will do our best to communicate updates by letter or phone. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the church office or the Council member assigned to your Shepherding group.

In the meantime, continue to follow the advice of government officials and health professionals. But, most importantly, please continue to pray for our congregation, our community, our country, and all of God’s children around the world.

Yours in Christ,

St. Luke Congregational Council
